Stargazy pie

Scott's restaurant on Mount Street in Mayfair has reopened under the management of Caprice Holdings, the company which owns The Ivy, Le Caprice and J Sheekey. Stargazy pie is on the menu which looks like something out of Mrs Beeton: a fish pie with a puff pastry crust out of which appear the heads of four sardines, their eyes gazing upwards towards the stars. Apparently Sophie Grigson rediscovered the recipe which is from Cornwall and about 400 years old.

If I ruled this country there would be a few changes. Serious redistribution for a start. I would take all the money that David Beckham and the likes of Jade Goody have, and re-distribute it to people with more taste, like Winchester Whisperer.

It also amuses me that in 'Sunday Supplement Land' one is a nobody without an address in London - think Nigella Lawson [although she is scrummy, but that is another 'post']. But many of the things which make their lives so amenable originated in the countryside.

Wales is belatedly cashing in on this image, which Scotland has harnessed for years. In fact Llandeilo, a small town on the Towy valley, is angling to be a 'cittaslow' based on the Italian 'slow food' revolution. Personally I would be in favour of a 'slow everything' world.

Indeed, Nulabour have started piloting this concept on the trains.. I also fail to understand how the Whisperer from Winchester has been signed up for a multi-million pound style TV series and book - if this happens, can I be your 'agent' - my fees are reasonable..

Clearly I meant to say 'fail to understand how the Winchester Whisperer has not yet been signed up for a multi million pound...'

That's a relief! You're first in the queue for "Agent"

Oh Joy !! The series on which my sole qualification for acting as your agent 'Trevor's World of Sport' has been moved to a 6.30 slot on Radio 4, from its 'bedtime shift'. Fantastic comedy from Andy Hamilton with the dulcet tones of Neil Pearson.
