Our most honoured guest at New Year came bearing an arm load of cakes from Laduree, including this one called the Marie Antoinette. Merci beaucoup!

You cannot eat that. It is a work of art. But if you are so greedy we all expect you to give a mouth by mouthful account. Or have you gorged it already?

Happy New Year, Portinari! The actual cake was a smaller version of the photo, in pistachio green. Delicious marzipan covering chocolate sponge, chocolate cream filling and a sliver of caramel wafer. Best cake I've had all year!
