Seven cygnets swimming

These long evenings are perfect for walking along the water meadows in Winchester. On my way out on Monday I saw a swan sitting on its nest and on my way back I saw the same swan with its mate and seven fluffy cygnets swimming along happily, the cygnets ducking their heads down into the water to feast on the delicacies provided on the table of weeds below. Meanwhile a duck was sitting on the swan's nest and enjoying the spectacle.

Hello there

I'm a Winchester resident too and came across you blog in my search for local bloggers. You have some beautiful posts.

I hope you'll excuse my using the comment facility to get in touch but I couldn't see an email for you. I wanted to get in touch to tell you about a new free smart phone app for seafood lovers across Hampshire and the south coast (it's idea for us Winchester folk). The app, called Local Catch, lets fishermen along the south coast send out alerts on what they've caught that day to anyone who downloads the app and registers, meaning local people can meet their local fisherman/fishmonger and purchase same-day caught fish.

It's one of the only ways to be sure you're getting same-day caught fish that's 100% local.

I was hoping you could help us spread the good word of this new app with a post on your blog - I'm sure you have such a keen following of local peole who might find this news interesting - so I hope that you'll consider giving it a mention!

Thanks for your time and if you would like more information or any images (we have some great shots of Hampshire fishermen uploading their catch of the day!) please do let me know on francesca@footprint-comms.co.uk

All the best,
Francesca
