Flopping in front of the television after our Christmas goose, my father said, "There are some carols on. I think they're from Canterbury." I switched on BBC2 and saw some familiar faces. "That's not Canterbury - it's Winchester!" I replied.
Oh, but of course! Following a fascinating tour of Winchester Cathedral - possibly the best in its 921 year history - only this weekend by the Winchester Whisperer herself, no less, I would recognise the superior carving of the oak choir screen anywhere.
