Zim

Zimbabwe and Angola have signed a security co-operation agreement whereby Angola can supply paramilitary forces to Zimbabwe. The rumour is that 2500 troops are arriving, 1000 at the beginning of April, although Angola is trying to diffuse the tension by insisting they're coming on a training exchange programme. Angola is no fan of the West. Its Interior Minister said last week, "Angola will do everything in its power to help the Zimbabwe police force and will not allow western imperialism to take over Zimbabwe." It's unclear why Mugabe needs more troops unless his army is tiring of the continual decline in the country's fortunes.

Tribalism in Africa - without Western influence any more - will eventually destroy it.

Anon - I had forgotten. She will undertake a caravan tour of the ex-white lands. Mrs Lear thinks she should hire a stylist who might at the very least get her NOT to wear crimplene ( nothing against crimplene myself)

kinglear - suggest you could pass on mrs lear's thoughts to Simon Hoggart.

His expose of her explanation of what we are doing to persuade Mr Mugabe to cease and desist from his behaviour in today's Guardian is very droll..

That said, Mr Hoggart has been going on about Michael Fabricant's famous hairstyle for years to no avail...

Ooh, what a catty lot you are about Mrs B, but I have to say I love the idea of her taking a caravan tour there! I find this news about Angola and Zimbabwe quite worrying, actually.. As WW says, what is Mr M up to?

Africa is in a terrible mess and my country, Belgium, has a terrible track record.
Even today Kinshaha is under siege.

I'm honoured to be on Limoncello's list and ashamed that I still haven't got my blogroll up and running. Am working on it.

No doubt you have read the news that Mugababe's daughter, Bona, is now at her studies in the London School of Economics.. I wonder what Boris would make of this - but to be honest I think he would be all in favour as our Higher Education sector now needs all the funding help it can get..
