EDF are owned in the main by the French Govt, and they have already submitted their designs of Nuclear Powers stations to be built in the UK for approval. Whilst E.On and Centrica are both still in the game here there is now an obvious threat that the French Govt will control Nuclear power stations in the UK! With the undersea power cables that cross the channel there is scope here for the French to turn the UK into their own off shore power facility! And on that note I am now off to put some coffee on!

The thing is that France provides 80% of its electricity from nuclear power. We are very reactionary on this subject.

You don't think Monsieur Sarkozy was just over here to show his new wife, do you ? The 'entente formidable' has begun, and if we Brits have been too stupid to embrace nuclear technology, then we only have ourselves to blame if the French try to plug the gap..
