meanwhile thousands of dead bats are dropping from the skies of Queensland, killed by the heatwave...
and it's so cold in North America that there's ice at the Niagara Falls.

It's a miracle that any trees, let alone apple trees, manage to survive in Cromarty.
Last nights BBC weather forecast let slip that this winter has so far proven to be the wettest in Scotland since records began .

Yes Angus - I was rather disappointed that the owner of the tree said she was going to leave the fruit for the birds instead of showcasing her first Cromarty apple pie of the year.
