Torcello

A Byzantine expert was telling me about the spectacular mosaics at Torcello. Have you been there? It's now on my wish list...

There is a restaurant with a wonderful wisteria covered terrace outside the entrance to the nave.

Yes - La Signora and I went some years ago and are planning to return there in September after a visit to Aquilea and Grado. There is another Byzantine domed cathedral beside the one in your picture also worth more than a visit. We will report with pictures after our visit. And then there is also Locanda Cipriani. But more of that another time.

Sounds a good place for a Bellini, Angus.

Lucky you, Portinari!

Yes - the restaurant is good - particularly under the influence of chilled white win......
Actually, although these are very fine, if you want to see something mind blowing you should go to the Monastery at Horezu in Romania. It's the most astonishing place.
